Garland, TX - March 6, 2018 – Over the past few years the flood potential in Garland, TX has risen drastically. The most notable rain fall in recent memory took place in 2015, when areas of Garland, TX received 7 inches of rainfall within 24-hours. These 7 inches of rain displaced many residents from their home, incited several emergency evacuations and the left Garland Fire Department with the impression that they need to expand their water rescue equipment.

Garland Fire Department teaches Swift Water Rescue Tech 1 and 2 to cities throughout the state of Texas, yet they do not have the equipment capabilities to effectively execute rescue efforts in numerous scenarios, just as they saw in 2015.

The Guns & Hoses Foundation of North Texas was made aware of the growing necessity for the Garland Fire Department to be equipped with the proper equipment and decided to donate a military grade inflatable boat powered by a 40hp prop engine.

The addition of a powered inflatable boat will greatly increase effectiveness with swift water rescue in Garland and surrounding communities. We are excited to continue the support of our first responders, without all of you this would not be possible, and for that, we are grateful.
