Officer Henry “Hank” Nava, Jr. worked with the Austin Park Police Department for three years before joining the Fort Worth Police Academy in 1991, graduating in 1992.
 
Officer Nava and his wife, Teresa, had been friends for a while before getting married in November 1991. They welcomed two amazing children into the world, KayLeigh and Justin, and loved spent time together as a family. Officer Nava and his wife enjoyed hosting pool parties with their friends and spending time outdoors. Those who knew him described Officer Nava as one who gave with a generous heart and had a smile that could light up the room. He dedicated 17 years of his life to protecting the people of his community.
 
On Tuesday, November 29, 2005, Officer Hank Nava Jr. was attempting to serve an arresting warrant to a suspect with a parole violation. The suspect shot him and he succumbed to his injuries on December 1. He is survived by his wife, Teresa; children, KayLeigh and Justin; and parents, Henry and Nancy.
